STEREO TYPES RACISM FORUM OF DISCRIMINATION

The period after 1994 general election heralded an ego in people minds that raised expectations that nobody in any country resist. This era couldn't have come any later as it had already simmered in South Africa's young minds of the 1976 apprising; and expectations of irradication of human rights violation, intolerance, stereotypes and racism were almost overflowing.

These kinds of stereotype practices were wished to have been irradicated even long before the introduction of other forms of humanity in work place such as affirmative action

Affirmative action in the workplace was however in some cases abused. The pre 1994 stereotypes welcomed the introduction of affirmative action inorder to abuse it by appointing incompetent candidates based on colour rather than ability and therefore blames the Government the appointment of certain personnel to positions based on quotas was exploited and abused for in some cases competent people were overlooked simply because of their physical structure e.g. the Disables. While it is good to appoint elegant and attractive secretaries and personnel assistants, it is rather a prejude and discrimination to neglect talented unattractive applicants who would otherwise even be diligent and conscientious about their job than concentrate on beauty.

It is unbelievable to note that some positions are filled with totally incompetent and inappropriate personnel to the detriment of those deserving qualified and competent candidates. The appointments are driven by the desire to display compliance rather than the wish to afford opportunities to the long under privileged. Therefore it is uncommon to find companies appointing on the basis of colour and physical build of human where such qualities are not to be utilised e.g. Taxi Industries and Traffic Department.

Therefore forms of discrimination may at times not necessarily confine themselves to race and colour but to human stereotypes such as physical structure, posture disable even beauty. These forms of discrimination are very prevalent but ignored in a number of incidents as they border on pettiness. However society needs to realise the potential loss of brilliant minds and brains suppressed by stereotypes of the nineteenth century. The successful entrance into the new millennium rests therefore in the irradication of all forms of discrimination globally.
