Jolanta Ambrosewicz-Jacobs: 
"Alternative Methods of Education in Overcoming Ethnic Prejudices"

The workshop is focused both on presenting methodology of researching ethnocentrism and on evaluation of innovative educational programs aimed at enhancing students' tolerance toward minorities. First, the anatomy of prejudice and mechanisms of stereotyping will be examined, illustrated with the results of a nationwide survey of a representative sample of 1002 Polish students. Second, techniques used for assessment of alternative educational programs will be discussed shortly. Next, the content of anti-Semitic beliefs and structure of the stereotype of Roma, in the context of attitudes toward minorities in Poland will be examined as well. Finally, the workshop will consider effects of alternative educational programs on attitudes change.
