Workshop Outline
Kim Feinberg, Foundation for Tolerance Education, South Africa:
"Universal lessons through history"
The presentation is built on the thought process that in all that
happens we can take out a valuable lesson from it no matter how horrific
the event is. We have events in all of our lives and pain is def. relative
to the person who is going through it. The only way to grow from this is
to find meaning and understanding from the event - as Victor Frankl
teaches. This meaning is different to each person. Before we can do this
we need to understand the underlying thought process and meaning of some
fundamental issues, i.e. What is tolerance? What does it mean to be
responsible? Do we always have a choice? etc. These are values that we try
look at in the workshop. We look at Apartheid, Rwanda and Holocaust.
